On July 27th, SKA general director Andrei Tochitsky and the Republic of Karelia's minister for youth, sport and physical culture Alexander Voronov met in Saint Petersburg.
During the meeting, talks were held about the possibility of having a SKA ice hockey school exist at Kondopoga's ice rink. It's planned that starting from autumn 2017, Karelia's best players born between 2007 and 2012 will train with the republic's best coaches.
SKA general director Andrei Tochitsky:
- SKA Hockey Club are trying to help develop ice hockey, especially youth and amateur ice hockey in the North-West region. By opening this school in Kondopoga, we are giving an ice hockey path to those children who haven't previously had the chance to play the sport in good facilities. The SKA family is happy to give them this opportunity.
Republic of Karelia minister for youth, sport and physical culture Alexander Voronov:
- We're hoping that Karelia will produce talented ice hockey players as a result of this agreement. In the future, we want them to play for SKA or other professional clubs.
