HOW THE SEASON TURNED OUT
This certainly wasn't Danila Galenyuk's first KHL campaign with SKA. Initially, the young defenseman made his debut in December 2017, before he spent the majority of the 2018/2019 season with SKA-Neva in the VHL. Nevertheless, he returned to the main SKA team at the start of the 2019/2020 campaign, impressing the coaching staff with his confident performances in defence.
He tallied nine minutes and 47 seconds on the ice during his first KHL game of the season against Metallurg Magnitogorsk.
Overall, Danila stood out with his reliability at the back, only finishing six matches with a negative plus/minus record. As the season progressed, he managed to start making more attacking contributions too, racking up two goals and 10 assists over the course of the entire campaign.
Danila was often included in the line alongside Kirill Marchenko, Ivan Morozov and Vasily Podkolzin. However, in the Gagarin Cup playoffs, he was placed next to Dinar Khafizullin, with the pair subsequently showing good mutual understanding in the defensive zone. He even grabbed a goal in the series as SKA comfortably swept Vityaz Podolsk 4-0.
"I thank the coaches for showing faith in me," stated Danila when giving an interview to the press. "I simply have to prove my worth in every match."
