HOW THE SEASON TURNED OUT
In 2018, Igor Ozhiganov took the decision to move to the NHL with the Toronto Maple Leafs, before he subsequently returned to Russia last year. SKA later signed the reliable defenseman in the middle of November.
When joining SKA, Igor was initially placed in a line with Andrei Zubarev, but he was eventually paired up with Vasily Tokranov in defence after the latter recovered from his injury. Although he didn't score too many goals, Igor played an important role at both ends of the ice for SKA, dishing out 12 assists and picking out teammates with pinpoint passes. During the 2019/2020 KHL Gagarin Cup playoffs, he made two important assists for goals scored by Andrei Kuzmenko and Sergei Plotnikov, with the coaches putting him on the powerplay unit.
"Everyone knows how amazing the atmosphere at the Ice Palace, it's the best in the KHL," remarked Igor when asked about his experience competing at the Saint Petersburg Ice Palace as a SKA player.
