This was SKA's largest victory against HC Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg in KHL history. However, on 5 November 1986, SKA did defeat Avtomobilist 9:3 on the road in the USSR championship. Interestingly, current Avtomobilist head coach Andrei Martemyanov was a player for the Yekaterinburg team in that game.
