SKA’s upcoming 2021/2022 KHLhome matches against Amur Khabarovsk, Salavat Yulaev Ufa and Traktor Chelyabinsk will be held under the “Pure Ice Hockey” slogan.
The aim of the “Pure Ice Hockey” campaign is to draw attention to the air pollution in cities - including Saint Petersburg - and to encourage citizens to choose public transport, bicycles and pedestrian paths instead of cars at least for one day.
SKA Hockey Club encourages all fans to travel to September’s home games by using the metro, electric transport and bicycles. For the most eco friendly mode of transport - bicycles - there is a bike park at Hockey City.
The SKA team and management group will also take part in the “Pure Ice Hockey” campaign by travelling to the match against Amur on an electric bus. The system of electric buses has been present in Saint Petersburg since 2017, and at the moment there are 10 routes using electric buses in different regions of the city.
September 22 is World Car-Free Day. On Wednesday, all motorists - including those using motorbikes - are encouraged not to use their fuel-consuming vehicles for at least one day. On September 24 in Saint Petersburg, the “Go to Work on your Bike” day will take place, an event which is designed to demonstrate that it is easy to go about your daily business by using your bicycle without requiring any special clothes or preparation.
