In Belarus, SKA managed to get back to winning ways against HC Dinamo Minsk, claiming a 2:1 away victory in the 2021/2022 KHL regular season.
Marat Khusnutdinov opened the scoring in the second period with a wonderful individual effort. However, not long later, Roman Gorbunov got Dinamo back on level terms, whipping a strong wrister beyond SKA goaltender Lars Johansson from the doorstep. In truth, Dinamo certainly had the advantage on the ice during the second frame, piling the pressure on our team and forcing Johansson into a series of difficult saves.
However, SKA made a major improvement in the susbequent third period, laying siege to Alexei Kolosov in the Belarusian net and drawing penalties out of Dinamo. The hosts managed to hold on, though, with Kolosov in superb form in their goal.
Nevertheless, our players eventually earned the two points in the ensuing extra frame with 50 seconds remaining on the clock, as Anton Burdasov hit the jackpot with an unstoppable slap shot.
SKA will now prepare to face Vityaz in Podolsk on Monday. Puck-drop is scheduled for 19:30 local time.
