In Moscow, SKA took on HC Dynamo, searching for a second consecutive victory in this 2018/2019 KHL away series. Head coach Ilya Vorobyov made one notable change, replacing Magnus Hellberg in goal with young Igor Shestyorkin. Veteran shot stopper Alexander Yeryomenko was Dynamo's starting goaltender.
Pumped up to defeat their arch-rivals, SKA started proceedings in fantastic fashion, striking three brilliant goals in the opening eight minutes. Patrik Hersley launched an unstoppable one timer into the net, the unmarked Viktor Tikhonov netted on the doorstep, and Alexander Barabanov scored from point blank range to send Alexander Yeryomenko to the bench in place of Ivan Bocharov.
To be fair to the hosts Dynamo, they did keep SKA off the board again until the third period, where Alexei Kruchinin bagged his first of the current KHL campaign. Igor Shestyorkin expertly kept his shutout intact, seeing SKA through to a confident 4:0 triumph!
