In the 2020/2021 Euro Hockey Challenge, Russia managed to cope with the challenge of Belarus at the VTB Arena in Moscow, registering two victories in front of the home crowd.
On Friday, the senior national team defeated the Belarusians by a score of 6:3, with Vladislav Kamenev, Yegor Korshkov (2), Ilya Safonov, Andrei Kuzmenko and Anton Burdasov all scoring excellent goals during a second-period blitz. Goalkeeper Alexander Samonov stopped 10 of the 13 shots which he faced.
SKA were represented by goalkeeper Samonov, defensemen Igor Ozhiganov and Dinar Khafizullin and forwards Kuzmenko (1+0), Burdasov (1+0), Kirill Marchenko (0+2), Emil Galimov (0+1), Kamenev (1+0), Vladislav Tsitsyura (0+1), Vasily Podkolzin (0+1) and Evgeny Timkin.
This afternoon, the Olympic national team also beat Belarus in the Russian capital, emerging victorious by a score of 2:0. Ivan Morozov opened the scoring on the powerplay in the first period, before Pavel Kraskovsky subsequently doubled the advantage shorthanded in the second. Ivan Bocharov saved all 18 shots in the Russian net.
In the second match, SKA were represented by defensemen Viktor Antipin and Kirill Kirsanov and forwards Morozov (1+0), Podkolzin (0+1), Kirill Marchenko, Pavel Kukshtel and Tsitsyura.
SKA forward Artyom Zhuk, 20, participated in both games for the Belarusian national team.
