This is the first time when SKA have won a KHL away match after trailing by three goals. Furthermore, in the previous 445 road games in the league, the only occasion when SKA had equalised after being three down was on 15 September 2020, when our players eventually lost 3:4 to Avangard Omsk in Balashikha.
At home, SKA have recovered from a three-goal deficit three times to subsequently emerge victorious, defeating Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk (7:5, 10 September 2012), Admiral Vladivostok (4:3, 23 September 2014) and Severstal Cherepovets (4:3 OT, 17 December 2019).
By hitting the target at 59:44, forward Kirill Marchenko scored SKA's latest winning marker in an away match in the Russian championship. The previous record of 59:38 was set by Artyom Kryukov on 26 October 2007 when SKA managed to beat Vityaz Moscow Region on the road.
Kirill Marchenko has also scored in all of his four matches against Kunlun Red Star Beijing in the KHL. Boasting five goals to his name, Kirill is now SKA's top scorer in competitive games with the Chinese opponents. Moreover, this is the second time in his career when Kirill has registered three (2+1) points in one single KHL match, following in the footsteps of his performance against Jokerit Helsinki in Finland on 23 February 2020 (6:1).
Fellow forward Vladimir Tkachyov has now participated in 100 KHL regular season games for SKA, recording 78 (25+53) points along the way. Vladimir has tallied at least one point against all 23 opponents which he has faced as a SKA player.
