In the concluding match of the 2022 Liga Stavok Sochi Hockey Open, SKA comfortably coped with the challenge of the under 25 Russian national team, claiming a routine 5:1 victory.
It's worth noting that the Russia side contained plenty of SKA players.
At the end of the first period, Alexander Volkov was gifted a golden opportunity to open the scoring for Russia with a penalty shot, but his effort was stopped by solid goaltender Dmitry Nikolaev.
In the second stanza, however, Marat Khairullin and Kirill Tankov hit the jackpot for our team. Subsequently, our players registered a further three markers through Khairullin, Valentin Zykov and Daniil Pylenkov in the third.
One reply from SKA forward Grigory Kuzmin in the 47th minute before Pylenkov's effort wasn't enough for Russia U25 to get back in proceedings.
Furthermore, Alexander Samonov was named the best goalkeeper of the tournament, forward Damir Zhafyarov was crowned the MVP and teenager Dmitry Buchelnikov was the best forward.
SKA will now continue to train in Sochi, before subsequently returning to Saint Petersburg at the end of August for the Nikolai Puchkov Tournament.
