In Magnitogorsk, SKA took on HC Metallurg for the second consecutive KHL match on the road. Head coach Oleg Znarok made two changes, replacing Sergei Kalinin and Evgeny Ketov with Jarno Koskiranta and Patrick Thoresen. Mikko Koskinen and Ilya Samsonov were the starting netminders.

As expected, our players took the initiative in Magnitogorsk. Anton Belov had a number of huge slap shots during the frame, testing Ilya Samsonov's reactions and smacking the left post when on the powerplay. Metallurg opted for a defensive approach, but they had a perfect chance to open the scoring in the final stages of the period. Denis Platonov found himself clean through after a poor defensive error, however Mikko Koskinen denied him with a superb stop.

Just like in the first period, SKA continued playing with the initiative in the second. Jarno Koskiranta should have broken the deadlock, shooting directly into Ilya Samsonov's body when taking aim on the crease. Mikko Koskinen wasn't a spectator at the other end, flashing leather beautifully to deny Sergei Mozyakin who was 1 on 1. Our players dominated the majority of the period, albeit not creating many clear shooting lanes inside the opposing zone.

Metallurg Magnitogorsk - SKA - 0:4

SKA finally made the breakthrough in the third period. Alone on the doorstep, Sergei Shirokov took aim and fired a fantastic backhand effort beyond Ilya Samsonov's glove. That goal gave our team a real boost, as the players went on to rip Metallurg apart. Ilya Kablukov scored the second goal within 22 seconds, completing a stunning play with a firm wrister from the crease. Sergei Plotnikov netted the third on the doorstep, before Vladislav Gavrikov fired into the right corner when at the blue line. Mikko Koskinen kept his deserved shutout intact, sealing SKA's thumping 4:0 victory against Metallurg Magnitogorsk!
