Today, at 19:30 local time, SKA will compete against Dinamo Riga on the road in Latvia in the 2021/2022 KHL regular season.
At the moment, SKA are leading the Western Conference with 33 points from 22 matches, while Dinamo Riga are sitting in 10th position with 20 points on the board. Nevertheless, in comparison to previous campaigns, Dinamo have been stronger this time around and have claimed seven wins in regulation time already.
Unfortunately for Dinamo, their head coach Sergei Zubov recently left the organisation due to family reasons, a turn of events which was rather unexpected. Valeri Kulibaba is currently working as Dinamo's head coach.
SKA are coming off the back of three consecutive victories against Jokerit Helsinki (home, 2:0), Kunlun Red Star Beijing (home, 7:0) and Avangard Omsk (away, 5:1). For their part, Dinamo Riga have lost their last three successive games to Metallurg Magnitogorsk (home, 4:5 SO), Severstal Cherepovets (away, 0:2) and Jokerit (away, 0:8). Forward Nikolajs Jeliejvevs is their leading scorer with 13 (10+3) points from 18 appearances.
Forward Andrei Kuzmenko is our top scorer with 23 (6+17) points to his name so far.
Last season, SKA lost to Dinamo 3:4 in a penalty shootout in Saint Petersburg, before our players subsequently gained revenge by a score of 4:1 in Latvia.
