Today, the male Olympic Athletes from Russia team took on Norway in the 2018 Olympic Games quarter-final stage. Following a successful group stage campaign, head coach Oleg Znarok kept the team largely the same with Vasily Koshechkin still in net.
Our players made a superb start in the first frame, scoring three goals in the opening 20 minutes. Mikhail Grigorenko got the ball rolling, before SKA's Nikita Gusev and Vyacheslav Voynov joined in on the act to make it 3:0.
Norway's Alexander Bonsaksen got one back for the opponents in the second, but our team weren't in the mood for giving the Norwegians hope of an unlikely win. Sergei Kalinin and Nikita Nesterov also found the net in the frame, increasing the lead to 5:1.
Forward Ivan Telegin got himself on the scoresheet on 54 minutes, sealing a thumping 6:1 victory! Our team will now play the Czech Republic in the semi-finals on February 23.
