Today, in Saint Petersburg, the official presentation of the logo for the 2023 IIHF World Championship took place. International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) president Rene Fasel, Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF) president Vladislav Tretiak, first vice-president of the RIHF and SKA vice-president Roman Rotenberg, special RIHF representative for international matters Pavel Bure and vice governor of Saint Petersburg Boris Piotrovsky all participated in the event.
- I was pleasantly surprised that Saint Petersburg has a complex which contains all of the required facilities and the latest technology to ensure that everyone can play ice hockey, from children to the senior SKA players. When I was in the NHL, we didn't have anything close to this complex! This sporting complex possesses everything from medicine, nutrition, training infrastructure and an open ice rink outdoors. Hockey City is the complete complex! Moreover, the complex is only 300 meters away from the Ice Palace, so the time which is normally spent on travelling to the arena can instead be used for training or theory lessons. I couldn't even dream of such facilities! People need to use Hockey City as an example for sporting complexes, so that more of them can be constructed in the regions.
