The 2020/2021 SKA season presentation took place on August 29 at the Hockey City complex in Saint Petersburg.
This year, the ceremony was displayed live on television by Match-Strana, KHL TV and Channel 78, as well as on SKA's website, the VKontakte group and the YouTube channel. Fans had the chance to participate in the event by joining an online conference which included competitions and discussions with players.
There were interviews with players, members of their respective families and special guests. Famous SKA supporters also made video wishes with regard to the new season.
Anna Svirina, Sofiya Samodurovaya and Elizaveta Tuktamysheva all skated on the ice alongside Alina, who is a member of the Angels of Pluschenko ice skating school, with all of them performing to a track by Igor Butman's jazz band. Vice governor of Saint Petersburg Vladimir Kirillov, vice chairman of the SKA board of directors and general manager Roman Rotenberg and Russian Ice Hockey Federation president Roman Rotenberg all subsequently gave speeches. During the ceremony, SKA players received their jerseys for the season, while the team and SKA-1946 were also awarded their medals for their achievements during the 2019/2020 campaign. SKA became the vice champions of Russia and SKA-1946 won the gold medal of the domestic under 21 championship.
The official part of the presentation ended with medical workers firing the cannon at the Peter and Paul Fortress.
Furthermore, at Hockey City, a new "Doctors Alley" was created as players planted trees. The decision was taken to dedicate the alley to those who have been battling against the coronavirus pandemic this year.
