SKA, in good form, picked up the second match of the concluding KHL away series of 2019, defeating HC Sibir Novosibirsk 2:0 on the road.
The teams largely cancelled each other out for the match. However, with the score still locked at 0:0, in the 47th minute, Andrei Kuzmenko finally broke the deadlock with a superb individual effort. Goalkeeper Alexei Melnichuk, who stopped all 36 shots he faced, contributed with an assist for the marker.
Vladimir Tkachyov subsequently hit the empty net in the last minute to seal the deal.
SKA will now travel to Cherepovets for a game against HC Severstal on Sunday.
