This was the first occasion when SKA scored six goals against Sibir Novosibirsk on the road in the KHL. The previous record was three goals which had been set three times. Overall, the last time when SKA tallied more than six goals in a match with Sibir away from home was in April 1971, when our team won 8:1.
Forwards Dmitry Zavgorodniy, Nikolai Polyakov and Yakov Trenin made their competitive SKA debuts.
Arseniy Brinkman registered his maiden SKA points in the KHL with a goal and an assist, while Ivan Volodin and Dmitry Zavgorodniy also dished out assists to tally their first points with our senior team.
Arseniy is only the fourth defenseman in SKA's KHL history to score his first goal in the league when under the age of 20. Furthermore, he only required five games to net his first marker, a club record.
Dmitry Zavgorodniy is the third SKA player in the KHL to gain at least two assists on his debut. Alexei Petrov (15 January 2009, Vityaz - SKA - 5:4) and Nikita Gusev (22 October 2015, Avtomobilist - SKA - 4:2) had previously achieved this.
Goalkeeper Mikhail Berdin claimed his first SKA victory in his third match.
This is the second time in the 2020/2021 KHL regular season when SKA won a game by a score of 6:4. In both of the matches, three of the six goals were scored by defensemen:
Torpedo - SKA - 4:6
Vasily Tokranov (two goals);
Sibir - SKA - 4:6
