Pre-season trainingSergei Kalinin
HC SKA press-service

- It was a short summer this year. I had a rest and managed to get new emotions. I don't know how ready I am for the new season, we'll see.

- What did the medical tests show?

- I was told that everything's fine.

- Have you been in Saint Petersburg before?

- Yes, of course I have. However, this is the first time when I have come here for a prolonged amount of time. There is time before the training camp to look around the city.

- Your decision on the jersey number?

- My number will be 21.

- Why?

- I have my reasons.

- When in North America, did you follow the KHL?

- I watched match highlights. I followed my former team, Avangard Omsk, and kept up to date with SKA's games because I like watching lots of goals.

Sergei Kalinin: "I had a short summer, but I managed to rest"

- SKA's pre-season is always tough. What are your expectations?

- I think that training camps should be difficult. Maybe I have already had similiar camps, who knows.

- Before making the move to SKA, did you speak to other players?

- Yes, I spoke with some guys. SKA's roster is familiar, I have played with the majority of players. I was told only good things about the city, team, management and organisation.

- Were the 2018 Olympic Games an important factor when making your decision?

- Certainly, I want to play at the Olympics. Everything depends on me and my performances. Despite NHL players not travelling to South Korea, we won't be picked because of former achievements. Let's see how things work out.
