In 72 matches against Avangard Omsk in the domestic championship, SKA have now earned 30 victories.
Forwards Emil Galimov, Kirill Marchenko and Linden Vey all set personal records on Monday evening:
- In his 442nd KHL appearance, Galimov registered his first hat trick. He is also the first SKA player to tally three goals in one game against Avangard in the national championship;
- Marchenko dished out two assists (1+2) in one match for the first time in his KHL career;
- Linden Vey picked up four assists in one KHL game for the first time. Furthermore, this was the maiden occasion when he finished a match with a +4 plus/minus rating. This was the 10th time in history when a SKA player gained four assists in one KHL meeting.
Avangard goalkeeper Igor Bobkov saved a SKA penalty shot for the second time in the KHL as he denied Vey in the first period. Previously, he achieved the same feat when representing Admiral Vladivostok, as he stopped Ilya Kovalchuk's penalty shot on 21 January 2016.
Forward Nail Yakupov is the first player in the 2020/2021 campaign to tally points against SKA for two different teams. On October 2, he made an assist for Amur's goal against SKA in Khabarovsk, before he scored Avangard's first marker yesterday in the second stanza. Moreover, he is the eighth former SKA player to score against our club this season, following in the footsteps of Alexander Osipov (Neftekhimik), Yegor Yakovlev, Sergei Plotnikov (both Metallurg Magnitogorsk), Daniil Ogirchuk (HC Sochi), Dmitry Kagarlitsky, Vadim Shipachyov (both Dynamo Moscow) and Sergei Shirokov (Spartak Moscow).
