For the first time in 26 matches between the clubs in the KHL, SKA lost to Jokerit Helsinki in a penalty shootout. SKA had previously won two shootouts against Jokerit at home on 15 February 2015 and in Finland on 24 November 2016. Goalkeepers Mikko Koskinen and Igor Shestyorkin didn't concede a single goal in those particular shootouts for SKA.
Jokerit is the 15th KHL club which SKA have beaten and lost to in a penalty shootout. SKA are only yet to compete in a shootout against Amur, Kunlun Red Star and Sochi.
Forward Kirill Marchenko is the first SKA player to convert on all of his first three penalty shootout attempts for our team in the KHL. However, the overall Russian championship still belongs to fellow forward Maxim Sushinsky, who hit the jackpot with his opening five penalty shots for SKA in the 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 campaigns.
Forward Evgeny Ketov now has 10 (3+7) points in KHL appearances against Jokerit. He hasn't got 10 points against any other club in the league.
Magnus Hellberg is the first SKA goalkeeper to concede four out of five penalty shootout attempts in the KHL.
