This marked SKA's 50th victory against Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in the domestic championship. It took our club 109 matches to achieve this landmark. Two draws have also been tallied, with Lokomotiv have claimed 57 wins.
Never before had SKA defeated Lokomotiv in overtime in the KHL regular season. In the past, three games had finished level after 60 minutes, with Lokomotiv twice going on to win in overtime and once in a penalty shootout. Barys Nur-Sultan and Vityaz Podolsk are the only remaining two KHL clubs which SKA are yet to beat in overtime in the regular season.
Forward Evgeny Ketov participated in his 461st match for SKA in the national championship. He is now in sixth place of the all-time ranking concerning the highest amount of appearances for SKA.
This was the first time when fellow forward Andrei Kuzmenko registered a winning goal for SKA in overtime. However, in the 2017/2018 Gagarin Cup playoffs, he scored an overtime marker against SKA when representing CSKA Moscow. Andrei is the second player to first score against SKA in overtime in the KHL before doing the same for our team, following in the footsteps of Maxim Karpov.
Forward Kirill Marchenko now boasts 22 (12+10) points in 34 KHL games this season, a new personal record in the league. His previous best was 21 (10+11) points in 35 matches of the 2019/2020 campaign for SKA.
