SKA's 10-game streak of scoring at least one goal in a penalty shootout has ended. It had originally started on 4 October 2020. Overall, in 92 KHL penalty shootouts, SKA have only failed to score a minimum of one goal in 11 of them.
Forward Nikita Gusev became the first SKA player to tally a minimum of 20 points against four different opponents in the KHL: Severstal Cherepovets (24), Lokomotiv Yaroslavl (26), Dynamo Moscow (28) and now Metallurg Magnitogorsk (20). In the past, Ilya Kovalchuk and Vadim Shipachyov had earned 20 points in games against three separate opponents for SKA.
Fellow forward Alexander Volkov contributed with an assist on his senior SKA debut. He became the eighth player to earn a point in his maiden appearance for our first team in the KHL, following in the footsteps of Teemu Ramstedt, Jimmie Ericsson, Arseniy Khatsey, Dmitry Zavgorodniy, Alexei Tsyplakov, Fredrik Handemark and Valentin Zykov.
Thanks to his two goals, forward Andrei Kuzmenko has now earned at least one point in matches with all 24 opponents which he has played against in the KHL for SKA.
