Starting from the 2019/2020 season, SKA will play on an ice rink which corresponds to the measurement of 60x26 meters. Work on reforming the measurements at the Ice Palace will begin in the second half of July, subsequently lasting two weeks. After its completion, SKA plan to hold an open day, so that fans can look at the new ice hockey facilities. The 60x26 measurements will also be applied for the rinks at the Hockey City complex, in turn meaning that all SKA system teams will train and play using the same ice measurements.
In May, the IIHF revealed that the next World Championships will be played on ice rinks measuring 60x26. As a result, SKA and other clubs which have already said they’ll play on such rinks, will be ready for the incoming changes and the players won’t need to adapt to the new ice size.
