SKA Hockey Club have signed a contract with forward Ilya Kovalchuk. The agreement will run for one year.

Ilya Kovalchuk first signed for SKA in the 2012/2013 season, becoming a Russian championship bronze medalist and winning the Continental Cup. Since the 2013/2014 campaign, Ilya has only played with SKA, winning the Gagarin Cup twice, the Russian championship once, winning a Russian championship silver medal, taking part in four KHL All-Star Games and becoming the 2015 Gagarin Cup playoffs MVP. He is SKA's top KHL scorer. In 299 appearances, Ilya has picked up 297 points (124+173).

Playing with the Russian national team, Ilya Kovalchuk has become a world champion twice and won two World Championship silver and bronze medals. In 2009, he was named the best forward and the MVP of the World Championship. A year later in 2010, Ilya was the World Championship's top scorer and in 2013, he became the top goal scorer. He has taken part in a number of Euro Hockey Tour tournaments. As a Russia U18 player, he won gold and silver World U18 Championship medals. He is a 2002 Olympic bronze medalist. Ilya is also an honoured Russian Master of Sport.
