SKA Hockey Club have signed a new contract with forward Alexander Barabanov, who came through the Saint Petersburg ice hockey system. The agreement will run until the completion of the 2019/2020 KHL season.
Alexander Barabanov was born on June 17, 1994. In 2010, he started his professional career with SKA-1946 in the MHL. Later, in the 2012/2013 campaign, Alexander represented VMF (now SKA-Neva) in the VHL. A season later, the forward made his KHL debut for SKA, becoming a KHL Gagarin Cup champion in 2015 and 2017. In the 2017/2018 season, Alexander won the KHL Opening and Kontinental Cups and Russian championship bronze. Overall, in 210 KHL matches, Alexander has earned 86 (41+45) points and a +61 plus/minus rating.
He won a bronze medal at the 2014 World Junior Championship and the same prize at the 2017 World Championship. In 2018, Alexander became an Olympic champion.
