SKA Hockey Club have penned a new contract with Oscar Fantenberg. The agreement with the Swedish national team defenseman will run for two seasons until 30 April 2023.
Oscar Fantenberg is a defenseman born on 7 October 1991 in Ljungby, Sweden. He stands 184 centimeters tall and weighs 92 kilograms. At youth level, he progressed through the IF Troja-Ljungby system, before joining HV71 ahead of the 2009/2010 campaign. Oscar subsequently penned a deal with Frolunda in 2014, where he became a Swedish champion and a winner of the Champions Hockey League. During the 2016/2017 season, he represented HC Sochi in the KHL, registering 23 (3+20) points in 44 appearances. He then made the move to the NHL with the Los Angeles Kings, before he transferred to the Calgary Flames and the Vancouver Canucks. Oscar earned 19 (5+14) points in 124 NHL games. He has also played at international level for the Swedish national team.
Oscar signed with SKA in October 2020. In the KHL regular season, he tallied seven (0+7) points in 37 games, while also earning the team's best plus/minus rating with a record of +19. SKA are yet to concede an equal-strength goal with Oscar on the ice in the Gagarin Cup playoffs.
