In Saint Petersburg, SKA are continuing to prepare for the resumption of the Kontinental Hockey League.
Today, our team participated in an outdoor training session at the Hockey City complex, sporting special jerseys dedicated to the lifting of the Siege of Leningrad which is today celebrating its 78th anniversary. These jerseys were designed eight years ago in connection with the 70th anniversary of the end of the Blockade.
HC SKA head coach Roman Rotenberg:
- We always pay respect to our veterans on January 27. This is a great day in the history of our city and country, we appreciate our veterans and we always invite them to our matches. As a team, we have gathered money which we will donate to the city's society of blockade veterans. We spoke about this with the guys during this training session, looking back at the achievements of our veterans. A lot of our players were born in Leningrad/Saint Petersburg.
- How useful are outdoor training sessions?
- They are very important in terms of consuming the maximum amount of oxygen. We analyse all of the data, and outdoor activities help to ease back into the training process. This is the first microcycle of our training camp. Furthermore, such training sessions help to further increase the mood within the group. At the same time, it helps to lay the foundations for future work.
