On November 26, a 2018/2019 KHL regular season match will take place in Zurich, Switzerland, between HC Dinamo Riga and SKA Saint Petersburg. In the warm-ups, SKA will dress in special "Hockey Fights Cancer" jerseys which are in a lavender colour.
In December 2017, the "Hockey Fights Cancer" charity was set up in joint partnership by Rusfond and the Russian Ice Hockey Federation. The charity's maiden events were held at the 2017 Channel One Cup in Moscow on December 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17.
The aim of the project is to draw public attention to the issue of children and adults suffering from oncological and hereditary diseases. Lavendar is the "Hockey Fights Cancer" colour and over 700 children every year in Russia lose their lives due to cancer.
The lavender jerseys set to be worn by SKA in Zurich will later go on sale at the Hockey Club stores and shop.ska.ru when the team return to Saint Petersburg from this away series. In purchasing a jersey, you can make your contribution to fighting cancer. Money raised from the jersey sales will go towards the Saint Petersburg Children's Hospice. The SKA management, coaching staff and players often support the hospice and the Step Forward charity. This season, more than two million RUB has been raised for helping children.
