On Thursday, Severstal claimed their first victory of the 2019 Nikolai Puchkov Memorial Tournament, defeating Avangard Omsk 2:1 in overtime at the Saint Petersburg Ice Palace.

Denis Zernov initially gave Avangard the lead, but after Igor Geraskin equalised, German Grachyov scored the winner in the ensuing overtime period.
