There will be a Nikolai Drozdetsky tournament in Saint Petersburg
SKA Hockey Club can reveal that a VHL tournament will take place in Saint Petersburg between the 14th and 18th of August at the Hockey City complex. VHL clubs SKA-Neva, Dynamo Saint Petersburg, Neftyanik, Torpedo and Lada Togliatti will all participate. Entry for the matches is free.
The competition has been named after legendary SKA forward Nikolai Drozdetsky, who won a bronze medal from the USSR championship with the club in 1987 and became an eight-time USSR champion with CSKA Moscow. In 1984, he claimed Olympic gold with the USSR national team, also winning the World Championship twice and the Canada Cup. On November 25, 1995 he died aged 38.
