The IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon took place in Saint Petersburg

The largest international triathlon competition, IRONMAN 70.3, was held in Russia for the first time. Together with professional triathletes, amateur athletes competed in the event, with SKA Hockey Club being represented by executive director Andrei Tochitsky.

IRONMAN is a legendary triathlon race that has been held in different countries of the world for over 40 years. This particular stage, which took place in Saint Petersburg, brought together more than 2,500 athletes from 64 different countries. The total distance that the participants had to cover was 113 kilometers (km). First of all, a 1.9 km swim was staged along the Rowing Canal, before a 90 km a bicycle ride was witnessed along the Western High-Speed Diameter. The athletes subsequently rounded off the event with a half marathon distance along Elagin Island (21.1 km).
