The under 20 Russian national team competed in the CIBC Canada Russia Series in Canada, a series of matches against teams from junior Canadian leagues. The Canadians won in a penalty shootout, after the series had finished in a 3:3 draw. All teams won their matches in regulation time.
Five players from the SKA-Serebryanie Livy Academy and two from the SKA Academy participated in the series. Alexei Polodyan recorded six points (3+3), becoming Russia's leading scorer. Andrei Altybarmakyan registered five points (3+2), while Mikhail Maltsev scored two goals. Alexei Melnichuk earned a saves percentage record of 92.6%. Nikolai Knyzhov took part in six games, and Alexander Alexeev played in two.
